Every daredevil knows the iconic afterglow smile of surviving a potentially dangerous stunt. And no one does crazy stunts better than New Zealand. To help you get your adrenaline on, Bravofly Australia has gathered together the ultimate nerve-wracking experiences that are guaranteed to have you hopping on the next cheap flight to NZ and making your friends question your sanity.

1. Shotover Canyon Swing (Queenstown, NZ)

Remember how much joy a swing set used to bring? Ever swing so hard you thought you could touch the sky? Well, prepare to relive that childhood memory on steroids, because Queenstown’s Shotover Canyon Swing will allow you to truly touch the sky.

Imagine standing on the edge of a dizzyingly high cliff (is there any other kind?) 109m above the Shotover River. You’re snugly strapped into a chest and seat harness connected to a system of ropes and pulleys stretched across the canyon, which are designed to turn you into a human pendulum. From there you’ll jump into a 60m free fall, which then turns into a 200m swing putting those childhood swing sets to shame.

2. Waitomo Caves Tubing Tours (Waitomo, NZ)

Adventure can be found below as well as above, and cave tubing takes your exploits way below…all the way underground. Take inner tubing to a whole new sub-level with a two-hour tour on an underground river in the Waitomo Caves. Enjoy subterranean waterslides, secret waterfalls, cave explorations, and cavern galaxies of breathtaking glow worm displays.

Bring a swimsuit and a towel and they’ll supply the rest – wetsuit, tube, and one incredible cave exploring journey.

3. Rotorua Inflatable Ball Ride (Rotorua, NZ)

Find out what it feels like to be a hamster by climbing in to a human-sized hamster ball (called an Outdoor Gravity Orb) and sending your hamster self rolling down a hill on straight and windy courses that overlook picturesque Lake Rotorua, Mokoia Island, and Mount Tarawera.

It’s fast-paced, silly, and incredibly fun. They even lend you a Go-Pro to record your wacky experience down the hill. Oh, and remember to bring a swimsuit, because you’ll be sloshing around in water during your ride (we said it was silly.)

4. Adrenalin Forest (Welllington, NZ)

The ultimate obstacle course takes you into the canopy up to 31m above the ground where you’ll find yourself scrambling up nets, swinging from branches, navigating rope bridges, and everything in between.

This course not only tests you physically, it tests you mentally as you calculate and plan your routes from platform to platform. Channel your inner Tarzan by pushing your limits, challenging yourself, and building your confidence on this strategic adventure.

5. SkyJump Auckland (Auckland, NZ)

Head over to Auckland where you can jump off a perfectly good tower, because why wouldn’t you. Get your jollies by leaping off the 328m Sky Tower for an 85km per hour fall where for a few seconds you can pretend you’re Superman or Superwoman.

Afterwards you’ll be able to call yourself a BASE jumper (every adrenaline junkies dream) because New Zealand’s highest jump is also the only BASE jump where you’re attached to a wire; guaranteeing that you’ll reach the ground safely and exhilaratingly happy.
